Ringoes Rocket: Godown Powers to $3,000 Northeastern Supply Night Victory

GEORGETOWN, DE – A true Ringoes Rocket.

Ryan Godown prevailed in the 25-lap Millman’s NAPA Auto Parts Modified main event Friday at Georgetown Speedway, bringing $3,000 back to his Ringoes, N.J., home base after Northeastern Supply Night at the Sussex County four-tenths-mile oval.

Guests of Northeastern Supply saw a pit area packed with 123 race cars in competition.

Godown outdueled fellow New Jersey resident Billy Pauch Jr. on a mid-race restart for the victory, his third this season at Georgetown.

The ‘Ringoes Rocket’ started the event from fourth and carved into second behind Pauch Jr., who started outside the front row via the pre-race draw.
Pauch Jr. led the opening 14 laps before a double-file restart played into Godown’s favor.

Godown utilized momentum off the top lane, pulled even with Pauch Jr. at the flagstand and took over a lead he would not relinquish over the final 11 laps, winning by a margin of 2.053 seconds over Pauch Jr., who posted his second straight runner-up finish at Georgetown.

“He left this little bitty lane up here and when I got to the flagstand I said, ‘If I can get around him, I can get a heck of a run,’” Godown said of his move to the lead.

“I blew in there (turn one) full tilt, and it stuck.”

The win extended Godown’s lead in the track’s Modified standings.

Milford, Del.’s Jordan Watson authored a steady drive to complete the podium, ahead of Pipersville, Pa.’s Danny Bouc, who started eighth, and H.J. Bunting III of Milford, Del., in the Eugene Mills No. 30.

Finishing sixth through 10th, respectively, were Brandon Grosso of Montgomery, N.J.; Austin Hubbard of Federalsburg, Md.; Ryan Riddle of Millsboro, Del.; Sean Weiss of Gilbertsville, Pa.; and John Willman of Birdsboro, Pa.

Heat winners were Watson and Bouc.

Josh Weller of Mertztown, Pa., won the 25-lap event for the United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars. Weller pocketed $2,000 for his efforts.

URC returned to Georgetown for the first time in two years with 17 cars in attendance.

Weller won over Ken Meisner, Andy Best, Robbie Stillwaggon and Kyle Spence.

The Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman 20-lap event featured a side-by-side battle between eventual winner Logan Watt of Boyertown, Pa., and Joe Toth of Upper Makefield, Pa., for a $1,000 payday.

Toth – occupying the outside lane – led 10 laps before Watt pulled past on the inside. Toth never gave up on the top and the pair raced in tandem to the Sunoco checkered flags, with Watt edging Toth by just .359 seconds.

Scott Hitchens, Jacob King and Adam White completed the front five.

Twenty-seven Crate 602 Sportsman signed in for action.

Georgetown, Del.’s Matt Hill owned the 20-lap First State Chevrolet Crate Late Model event from start to finish, earning $1,000. Hill picked the pole via the redraw and comfortably paced the entire event, surviving a final caution on lap 19.

Joey Warren slipped beneath Trevor Collins on the white flag lap for second. Derek Magee and Ben Scott filled out the front five.

Mel Joseph Jr. won the 12-lap Little Lincoln main with Jordan Herbert and Nathan Austin completing the podium

Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Car competitors battled for 15 laps with Cale Pettyjohn the overall and Late Model winner over Roscoe Clough and Allan Austin, while Harold Sylvester was best of the Modified contingent.

In a borrowed ride, Robert Smith bested T.J. Williams in the 12-lap Delaware Super Truck feature.

Ron Faulkner was the 12-lap Delmarva Charger feature event winner over Wyatt Cummings.

Racing continues Friday, Sept. 20 with the Blue Hen Construction ‘12k for the 12k’ remembering Gary Simpson for the Millman’s NAPA Modifieds plus the Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman, First State Chevrolet Crate Late Models, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, East Coast Vintage, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.
