URC Announces Twenty-Seven Race Schedule; Minor Rules Changes Enacted For 360 Sprint Series

SWEDESBORO, NJ - The United Racing Club held their annual
fall membership meeting October 21st at the Swedesboro, NJ Holiday
Inn. The meeting was well attended with several important
maters on the agenda. Curt Michael led off with a review of the tentative
2016 schedule.
The strong car turn out during the 2015 season helped make it possible
to broaden the schedule. The promoters that Michael was dealing
with had been impressed with the car counts, with an average of
28 cars attended the Pennsylvania shows and outside of Pennsylvania
the car count averaged 23. In all, 34 different drivers participated
in the 17 races held under URC sanction.
At present the 2016 season schedule will see URC making appearances
at the following tracks: Bridgeport (3), Orange County
(2), Williams Grove (4), Selinsgrove (4), Delmar (2), Georgetown
(1), Grandview (2), Port Royal (2), New Egypt (1), Big Diamond
(1), Bedford (1), and Susquehanna (1)
There will also be non-point races at NY’s Brewerton, Thunder
Mountain and Utica-Rome Speedways.
Club Vice President Robbie Stillwaggon then presented to the
meeting proposed rules changes for the 2016 season. Sixteen
changes were put forth for review by the voting members. The full
list of these proposals had been posted on the URC website for several
week. Voting for those members who could not be present could
be done on line, and was.
Only a few rule changes were voted in.
A change in the starting procedure to using double file restart in
heats and features with all lapped cars going to the rear. No traction
controls permitted. No tire softeners permitted. The minimum car
weight after the feature with driver in the car was raised to 1500
pounds (just in time for Thanksgiving).
Other proposals were discussed and voted on, but not accepted.
An election was held to determine the club’s officers. For the 2016
season
Robbie Stillwaggon remains VP, Curt Michael, Rick Weller, Mark
Bitner, Dave Betts, Howard Swanson, Tim Moran and Billy Gallagher
will serve on the board of directors. Members were encouraged
to volunteer to be part of several of the new committees formed
to run the banquet, work on the Kid’s Nite program and help add
sponsors.
The United Racing Club will be part of the PPB Motor Sports
show in January at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks,
Pa.
