Short Track Super Series South Region Concludes At Georgetown Speedway Tuesday, August 30; Marketing Partners, Bonus Award Sponsors Signing On For Bla

GEORGETOWN, DE €“ The finale of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP Velocita South takes place Tuesday, August 30 at Georgetown Speedway.

And momentum continues to build for the third annual Blast at the Beach to be contested at the half-mile clay oval.

A 35-lap big-block/small-block Modified event offering a winners share of $5,000, with $1,000 reserved for 10th and $400 to take the green flag headlines the program. The total payout for this event exceeds $25,000!

The $8,500 STSS South champion will be decided by 35 laps of feature racing at Georgetown. Increased championship points will be on the line at this event, adding to the drama.

Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply, located in Hurlock, Md., has signed on as a presenting sponsor of this event. Hurlock Auto & Speed is the official parts supplier of Georgetown Speedway, serving as an American Racer and VP Racing Fuels dealer in addition to a full line of oval-track speed equipment. Hurlock Auto also services standard automotive needs. Visit www.hurlockauto.com for more.

L&J Sheet Metal, based in Laurel, Del., is now a presenting Blast at the Beach sponsor. L&J Sheet Metal is at 136 Brooklyn Ave. and can be contacted at 302.875.2822.

Touch of Green Landscaping of Boyertown, Pa., has signed on to back a 3-lap Last Chance Qualifier for the STSS Modified feature. Drivers just missing the cut in the consolations will have the opportunity to compete in a LCQ event for an additionally, fully paid starting position in the Blast at the Beach main.

Dannys Pizza Pizzazz, with locations in Franklinville, Millville and Tuckahoe, New Jersey, will back the STSS Modified Hard Charger Award worth $200 cash to the driver advancing the most positions from their scheduled starting position to the finish of the 35-lap main event. Find Dannys Pizza Pizzazz online at www.dannyspizzapizzazz.com.

Lap sponsors and other marketing opportunities remain available by contacting BD Motorsports Media LLC at 845.728.2781 or Eric Kormann at 609.381.5820. E-mail georgetownspeedway@gmail.com.

Joining the STSS Modifieds on the program are Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win), Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks. A rain date of August 31 is in place.

2016 will mark the third Blast at the Beach running.

Last year, local driver Jordan Watson of Milford, Del., drove to a popular victory with the crowd, while Ryan Watt of Boyertown, Pa., was crowned the inaugural STSS South champion.

In the first event contested in 2014, New York teenager Tyler Dippel invaded and stole the show.

Track conditions have been a focus by the Georgetown management team this season to correlate with off-track clean-up and improvements. Competitors have raved about the tacky and racy conditions presented during the two most recent programs: the Ultimate Super Late Model Series stop on June 2 and URC 360 Sprint Car/Modified doubleheader on July 22.

During the July 22 program, H.J. Bunting scored a victory in the Blast at the Beach qualifier and earned a guaranteed redraw position for the main event on Aug. 30. Bunting heads to the Blast at the Beach knowing his Jake Marine-owned No. 85 is already in the starting field.

General information, times, prices and rules for the Blast at the Beach have been posted on both the track and series websites: https://www.thegeorgetownspeedway.com/?page_id=369

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
