Motorsports Mecca: Stars From Across The Northeast Converge This Tuesday Night (August 30) At Georgetown Speedway For Blast at the Beach Spectacular;
GEORGETOWN, DE €“ This Tuesday night (August 30), Delawares Sussex County will serve as the Northeast mecca of dirt Modified racing.
Historic Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, Del., hosts the championship round of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP Velocita South Region with the Blast at the Beach presented by Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply and L&J Sheet Metal.
STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds race 35 laps for $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to start plus lap money (all laps have been sold, some twice, for a minimum of $20 each), bonuses, contingency awards and much more. The event is a co-promotion involving BD Motorsports Media LLC and driver Eric Kormann in its third year.
Joining the Modifieds are the Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win, $100 to start), Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks, each earning $200 to win.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:20 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7:15 p.m.
Adult admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16. Kids 9-12 pay $10. Children eight and under are FREE. Pit admission is $35 for those 13 and up, $10 for Kids ages 6-12 and $2 for those under five.
An all-star field is shaping up for this event.
There have been six STSS Modified Velocita South Region races this season and six different winners: Anthony Perrego (Georgetown March 12), Wade Hendrickson (Bridgeport, N.J., April 17), Ryan Watt (Big Diamond, Pa., May 17) Stewart Friesen (Delaware International May 26), Billy Pauch Jr. (New Egypt, N.J., June 14) and Ryan Godown (Susquehanna, Pa., Aug. 7). All six drivers €“ and many more €“ are expected to contend on Tuesday.
Friesen and Watt are separated by just 49 points in the race for the STSS $8,500 South Region championship. Friesen will need to finish 11th or better to secure the title.

New Yorks Tyler Dippel won the inaugural Blast at the Beach in 2014 and plans his first trip back to Georgetown since that big victory on Tuesday. Last years winner Jordan Watson of Milford, Del., will return to defend his victory on Tuesday.
The event is among the most lucrative all season for drivers in Delaware with nearly $30,000 in cash on the line for a 35-lap main.
Fans will not be forgotten with a pair of corn-hole game setups as a second 50/50 prize, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ticket giveaways for Dover, kids bike giveaways and more. RC2U will be on hand with R/C racing in the grandstand area.

A rain date of August 31 is in place. However, forecasters are calling for a beautiful day to race!
