World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Set For Georgetown Speedway Debut Thursday, August 17; $10,000 To Win Fulton Bank 40

GEORGETOWN, DE €“ Thursday, August 17 will stand out in the storied history of Georgetown Speedway.

For the first time ever, the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Models will invade the Sussex County half-mile oval for the Fulton Bank 40 paying $10,000 to win. Not only is this a first for the WoO Late Model competitors at Georgetown; there has never been a $10,000-to-win race at the storied facility.

Super Late Model racing has been highlighted during the past two seasons at Georgetown with a number of high-profile events including a visit by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, the year-end Mid-Atlantic Championship Weekend and most recently the Independence Day Summer Classic.

Bringing in the WoO brand adds a marquee program for the division.

When this opportunity came up, it was a no-brainer, Georgetown promoter Brett Deyo said. This event will put our speedway on a national stage and give our Mid-Atlantic region drivers a huge payday.

Super Late Models have been featured twice at Georgetown thus far in 2017. Keystone State driver Chad Hollenbeck won a rare mid-May Monday program added by speedway management to combat early season rain-outs.

Most recently, Seaford, Del., driver Austin Hubbard annexed the Independence Day Summer Classic $3,500-to-win event on July 2 in a dominant performance.

The unsanctioned programs attracted healthy fields of 23 and 24 Super Late Models, respectively.

Joining the WoO contingent on the August 17 program are Delmarva Chargers, Delaware Super Trucks and Little Lincolns in feature-only programs.

On August 17, the pit gate will open at 3 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 4 p.m. Qualifying/hot laps begin at 6:45 p.m. and racing is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Grandstand admission prices are as follows: Adults pay $30; Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $25. Kids (ages 9-12) are $15. Children 8 and under are FREE.

All seating for this event is general admission.

Pit admission is $40 (ages 13 and up), $20 for Kids 6-12 and $2 for Children 5 and under.

In the event of inclement weather, a Friday, August 18 rain date is in place.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.

A new website is live for the speedway at www.thegeorgetownspeedway.com. Like Georgetown Speedway on Facebook, follow @thegtownspdwy on Twitter, e-mail georgetownspeedway@gmail.com or by contacting the speedway hotline at 302.563.GTWN (4896).
