Holy Halmar! Halmar Racing Owner Chris Larsen Sending Six Teams South To Georgetown March 16-17 Melvin L. Joseph Weekend
GEORGETOWN, DE – Holy Halmar!
Halmar Racing owner Chris Larsen has announced he will send six – yes, six – race teams south to Delaware for the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial Weekend Friday-Saturday March 16-17 at Georgetown Speedway. The weekend includes the milestone 50th event in the history of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco.
Leading the brigade is Stewart Friesen, who has shined in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition early in 2018 with a pair of consecutive top-10 finishes and a Stage victory at Las Vegas, Nev. The Sprakers, N.Y., driver will compete in Saturdays 49-lap, $6,949-to-win STSS Modified event and Friday nights 30-lap, $4,049 small-block 30-lap main, both aboard the No. 44. Friesen has three Georgetown victories to his credit in the past two years.
Jimmy Horton of Neshanic Station, N.J., is the defending STSS Modified Melvin L. Joseph Memorial event winner and he will return to do battle in the 49-lap headliner with the No. 43.
Matt Janiak, an up-and-coming big-block racer from Warwick, N.Y., will make his Delaware debut on Saturday driving the No. 17J in the STSS Modified division.
Both Allison Ricci and Tyler Boniface will pull double-duty in the STSS and small-block Modified ranks.
Ricci, of New Paltz, N.Y., will be at the controls of a Halmar Racing No. 55 with Boniface, of Pine Bush, N.Y., wheeling a No. 69. Both drivers will make their first starts in the First State.
Competing in the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman event on Saturday is Daniel Morgiewicz of Goshen, N.Y., driving the No. 15M.

Halmar International of Nanuet, N.Y., continues its support of the STSS in 18, returning as headline sponsor of the series North Region, which begins on Sunday, April 8 at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y. with the ‘Hard Clay Open fifth edition.
The Melvin L. Joseph Memorial Weekend at Georgetown Speedway opens the 2018 Northeast Modified season.
The Friday night (March 16) program is topped by small-block Modifieds racing 30-laps for $4,049 to win plus RUSH Crate Late Models ($1,049 to win), Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks. Practice rounds will be included for STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.
On Saturday (March 17), the STSS Modified 49-lap, $6,949-to-win event takes the headline with STSS Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,049 to win) and features only for Little Lincolns, Delmarva Chargers, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars and Delaware Super Trucks completing the card.
