URC Kids Night, Sprint Car & Modified Double-Headliner Coming Up Friday, September 13 at Georgetown Speedway
GEORGETOWN, DE – A fan-pleasing doubleheader of Modifieds
and Sprint Cars is next up on the agenda for Georgetown Speedway.
‘Wing Night
will feature the potent Capitol Renegade United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint
Cars plus the L&J Sheet Metal Modifieds and a full array of stock car
racing on Friday, September 13 at the Sussex County half-mile oval.
Not only does
this event mark the only URC event of the season at Georgetown, it is also a
special night for the club. The URC membership has organized “Kids Nightâ
festivities for the Georgetown fans!
Kids will be
treated to Bike Giveaways, goodie bags, an appearance by Ritas Italian Ice of
Bethany Beach, face painting, games and a driver autograph session! This will
take place prior to the start of racing in the midway area behind the
grandstands.
The URC
competitors will battle in qualifying races and a 25-lap feature. Josh Weller
of Mertztown, Pa., was the winner of last years URC appearance at Georgetown.
L&J Sheet
Metal Modifieds return for their fifth appearance of the season with a 25-lap
main paying $3,000 to the winner, $500 for 10th and $250 to take the
green flag.
There have
been four different big-block/small-block Modified winners at Georgetown this
season: Stewart Friesen on March 16, Richie Pratt Jr. on May 17, Jordan Watson
on July 26 and Billy Pauch Jr. on August 27.
Chesapeake
Paving/J.W. Brown Trucking Crate 602 Sportsman (20 laps, $1,000 to win),
Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars (12 laps), Little Lincolns (12 laps),
Delaware Super Trucks (12 laps) and Delmarva Chargers (12 laps).
Adult
admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16.
Kids (ages 9-12) pay $10. Children 8 and under are admitted FREE.
Pit admission is $35 for ages 13 and up. Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10. Children 5 and under pay $2.
Pit gates are unlocked at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:20 p.m. Racing begins at 7:15 p.m.
Georgetown
Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the
intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles
from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
