Bonuses Adding Up for Mark Williams Memorial Super Late Model Event

Written by Chris Moore

GEORGETOWN, DE - The first-ever Mark ‘Coot Williams Memorial race is less than a week away at Georgetown Speedway and the bonuses and awards are rolling in.

Super Late Models make their first of two Georgetown Speedway appearances on Thursday, April 15, joining their RUSH Late Model counterparts participating in the 'Battle of the Bay' touring series event.

The Super Late Model contingent will race for a winners share of $3,026 in a 26-lap main event, recognizing ‘Coot Williams No. 26. In addition to the lucrative purse, numerous cash bonuses have been put up by area businesses.

Atlantic Prime Mortgage, located in Lewes, Del., will be sponsoring all 26 laps at $26 per lap. Each driver will receive $26 for every lap they lead in the feature event. To learn more about Atlantic Prime Mortgage, visit them on the web at www.atlanticprimemortgage.com.

Collins Landscaping will present the leader of the 13th lap a $150 Halfway Leader bonus. To learn more about Collins Landscaping services, like their company page on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/collinslawncare2.

Adkins Law Firm stepped up to present several bonuses in memory of Williams. The overall fast timer in time trials will be receiving a $100 bonus. $50 will be the reward to each Super Late Model heat race winner. The driver advancing the most positions in the 26-lap feature from their scheduled starting position, will receive $250. Adkins Law Firm is located in Milton, Del., and can be found on the web at www.jadkinslaw.com.

Pella Windows and Doors of Lewes will present a $100 "Pella Pole Position" to the driver starting on the pole of the 26-lap feature.

Stockley Materials has put up the ‘Delaware Double challenge to the Super Late Models in their two scheduled events at Georgetown Speedway in 2021. Should a driver win both, the Mark ‘Coot Williams Memorial, and the ‘Mid-Atlantic Championship' in October, they will receive an extra $2,000 courtesy of Stockley Materials.

If no driver is able to sweep the two events, the driver with the highest average finish will receive a $1,000 bonus. If two or more drivers finish with the same average finish, the tiebreaker will be the highest finisher in the ‘Mid-Atlantic Championship. Stockley Materials can be found online at www.stockleymaterials.com.

The bonuses wont be stopping with the Super Late Models however. Benson Concrete has agreed to present the Delmarva Charger and Delaware Super Truck feature winners with an extra $300 for their 12-lap features. Benson Concrete has four different locations in Delaware and can be found online at www.bensonconcreteconstruction.com.

The Thursday program will include the Super Late Models, RUSH Late Models, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.

For the April 15 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:20 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7:15 p.m.

Adult admission is $20. Seniors (ages 13-17) and Seniors (ages 65 and up) pay $16. Kids (ages 9-12) pay $10 and Children 8 and under are FREE.
