Inside Line Promotions – MT. POCONO, Pa. (July 20, 2021) – Joey Amantea is set to compete in five races during five consecutive days in two separate divisions this week.

The first three days of racing will be in a wingless micro sprint as part of the 12th annual Hyper Racing 600 Speedweek followed by two nights with the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars.

“It’s going to be a fun week and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said. “We want to have a good week and make as many features as possible. If things go our way, hopefully we can contend for a few wins along the way. I’m really just looking forward to doing a lot of racing and making as many laps as possible.”

Amantea will make stops at Spirit Auto Center Speedway in Swedesboro, N.J., on Tuesday, at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., on Wednesday and at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa., on Thursday as part of the annual micro sprint speedweek.

Last season saw Amantea finish a career-best 10th in the series standings on the strength of two top-10 finishes. While he won’t compete for the series title as a result of a commitment to the 360 sprint car series, he’s hoping to use last year’s experience as a springboard to possible success this season.

“We have a great 600 program and I feel like we can compete with the very best of them and this deal definitely represents the very best,” he said. “We have not had the best season in the micro and that’s been a result of multiple things. But this is as good of a time as any time to turn it around and hopefully we can turn a few heads along the way.”

He’ll close out the week with the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars series with stops at Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, Del., on Friday and at Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, N.J., on Saturday. He enters the two-race tilt currently seventh in the series standings and only trails fifth place by 67 points.

Amantea scored an eighth-place finish at Action Track USA and he earned the night’s Hard Charger Award in his last event with the series. He’s hoping to parlay that success into a positive weekend and is looking forward to the chance to add to his five top-10 finishes he's earned with the series in 2021.

“We really want to have some good results for these two shows and I think we turned a corner setup-wise during the Action Track show,” he said. “We just need to keep making gains and keep learning and as long as we do that we’ll be okay. Hopefully that will lead to some positive results and maybe we can beat some of those guys in front of us and crack into the top five points-wise.”
