A Blast at the Beach: Georgetown Speedway Hosts Short Track Super Series Aug. 29

GEORGETOWN, DE – After a long weather-prompted hiatus, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco is back in gear with Rent Equip/Party Central and Belmonts Garage South Region competition.

Georgetown Speedway – the renovated facility in Sussex County, Del. – hosts its first STSS event of 2023 on Tuesday, Aug. 29 (rain date: Aug. 30).

The Hale Trailer ‘Blast at the Beach marks the third South Region event in August, joining Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., on Aug. 1 and New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway on Aug. 8.

The ‘Blast at the Beach includes a 35-lap, $6,000-to-win STSS Modified main event and 25-lap, $1,500-to-win headliner for the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman, plus Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.

The traditional, sought-after ‘surfboard trophy will be up for grabs.

After the most recent points-paying event on the South Region, Matt Sheppard of Savannah, N.Y., holds a one-point lead over Billy Pauch Jr. of Frenchtown, N.J. Matt Stangle (Neshanic, N.J.,), Mike Mahaney (Elizabethtown, N.Y.) and David Schilling (East Greenbush, N.Y.) complete the front five.

In the Belmonts Garage Crate 602 Sportsman South Region, Joe Toth of Upper Makefield, Pa., leads Dylan Madsen of Spencerport, N.Y., Kyle Smith of Fleetwood, Pa., Tom Moore Jr. of Middletown, Del., and Ryan Simmons of Cream Ridge, N.J.

On Aug. 29, pit gates open at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 5 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:20 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $25 (Adults), $20 (Seniors ages 65 and up and Students ages 13-17), $10 for Kids (ages 9-12) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $40 (Non-Members, ages 13 and up), $35 (NASCAR Members), $10 Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 Children (ages 5 and under).
