Godown (Modified) & Robinson (Super Late Model) Lead Georgetown Friday Winners

Written by Chris Moore

GEORGETOWN, DE – Ryan Godown claimed the Millman’s NAPA Modified victory at Georgetown Speedway on Friday night.

The Ringoes, N.J., native led all 25 laps, despite two late-race yellows, to pick up the $3,000 victory.

“We had a skeleton crew tonight,” Godown explained. “It was just me, my girlfriend, and Alex (hauler driver).

“We had problems after hot laps, had to change some things,” he continued. “It definitely seemed like the racing Gods were testing us.”

The win extends Godown’s advantage in the Millman’s NAPA Modified standings to 61 points over Danny Bouc.

Bouc came home with the runner-up spot, after Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Jr. got a right-rear flat tire when the yellow flag came out just prior to the checkered.

Godown fired from the pole starting position and Pauch Jr. quickly followed him into the runner-up spot.

Milford, Del.’s Jordan Watson was also on the move, coming from fifth to third in the early going and appeared gaining on the lead duo. His charge was short-lived, however, retiring halfway through the affair with engine problems.

Godown survived the final two restarts at the end of event to pick up his second win of the season at Georgetown Speedway.

Bouc took home the runner-up finish with Birdsboro, Pa.’s John Willman claiming third, and Millsboro, Del.’s Ryan Riddle and Georgetown, Del.’s Carson Wright rounding out the top five.

In Stockley Speed & Supply Super Late Model action, Georgetown, Del.’s Ross Robinson claimed his own $3,000 top prize.

Ross quickly got to second place and was trying to run down the leader Rick Eckert. The York, Pa., native experienced a right-front flat tire with 10 laps to go, relinquishing the lead to Robinson.

“Rick had the car to beat tonight,” Robinson stated. “I was going to run second and I hate that for him, but he’s going to win one soon.”

After the yellow flag, Robinson inherited the lead with Millsboro, Del.’s Donald Lingo pulling up alongside of him.

Robinson chose the outside lane, and the pair raced the next lap and a half side-by-side for lead.

“Don’s a good enough racer I knew if he got by me, I was in trouble,” Robinson said with a smile. “I had to get out ahead of him and get down in front of him.”

Robinson did just that and held on for the victory.

Lingo settled for second with Seaford, Del.’s Trevor Collins, Eckert, and Georgetown, Del.’s Amanda Robinson completing the top five.

Chalfont, Pa.’s Greg Humlhanz topped his second consecutive Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman feature on Friday night.

Humlhanz started from the third position in what was a non-stop 20-lap feature.

Humlhanz took the lead early and built up enough of a lead to steer clear of any potential challengers late in the race.

Frankford, Del.’ Scott Hitchens charged from seventh to the runner-up spot but ran out of time trying to chase down Humlhanz.

Jarod Millman, Jason Musser, and Adam White rounded out the top five.

Millsboro, Del.’s Nick Davis emerged victorious in the First State Chevrolet Crate Late Model feature.

Davis and Derek Magee shared the front row at the drop of the green flag, but Davis was the class of the field for his first win of 2024.

Magee came home second, with Matt Hill, Joe Warren, and Trevor Collins rounding out the top five.

Garrit Reagan claimed the Southern Delaware Vintage Late Model victory while Harold Sylvester was first Vintage Modified across the line in their 12-lap feature.

Nathan Austin raced from the sixth starting position and held off Melvin Joseph Jr. to pick up the Little Lincoln victory.

Robert Smith outgunned Tony Guinta for the Delaware Super Truck feature victory and Wyatt Cummings clicked off his first Feebs Distilling Delmarva Charger triumph at Georgetown Speedway.

Next up at Georgetown Speedway is the ‘Deron Rust Memorial’ on Friday, June 14. The Millman’s NAPA Modifieds race for $3,960 in a 33-lap affair. Joining the Modifieds will be the Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman, First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks, and the Feebs Distilling Delmarva Chargers.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
